Gaddafi arrest warrant adds oil to the fire -AU Chairman Ping says

By Henry Gombya and agency reports The Chairman of the African Union (AU) Commission Dr Jean Ping(photo) has told journalist that an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant for Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi and two others “pours oil on the fire” instead of helping end the raging war in Libya. Zuma warns NATO against assassinating Col Muammar Gadhafi

South African President Jacob Zuma has warned NATO against using its military campaign in Libya for the “political assassination” of Muammar Gaddafi, at the start of talks on the war. South Africa voted for the UN resolution for a no-fly zone over Libya, which NATO uses to justify its campaign, but in some of his sharpest language yet, Zuma warned the alliance against overstepping its mandate. “The continuing bombing by Nato and its allies is a concern that has been raised by our committee and by the AU Assembly, because the intention of Resolution 1973 was to protect the Libyan people and facilitate the humanitarian effort,” Zuma said, referring to … Continue reading

ICC issues warrant of arrest for the Gadhafis as Africans accuse the West of using it as a tool to silence defiant African leaders

By Henry Gombya and wire reports As expected, the International Criminal Court (ICC) today (Monday) issued an arrest warrant for Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi saying there is enough evidence to link him with crimes against humanity. This warrant came 100 days after the International Community led by the United Kingdom, France and the United States mounted aerial attacks on Libya’s command and control facilities all over the country. Col Gadhafi’s warrant of arrest was read in The Hague by ICC Judge Sanji Mmasenono Monageng. Anti-Museveni protests continue in London

Miwambo Opponents of President Yoweri Museveni’s 25-year rule continued to mount protests in London this weekend when several Ugandans were joined by other campaigners to camp outside the Houses of Parliament located in the Palace of Westminster. Protesters complained the Ugandan leader was mocking the West when he recently spoke about his ‘democratic accomplishments’ which are meant to mean the recent elections in which his National Resistance Movement (NRM) won more seats than all the opposition political parties combined together. British Army Day – the heroics of the 4th Kings African Rifles

By Robert Asketill Today is ‘Army Day’ in Britain when troops are on parade in many towns to remind the citizens of the realm of their past glories. On this day, it is important to remember some of the heroics carried out by empire soldiers during the Second World War.
