Kenyan MP narrowly escapes Boston Marathon bomb attack

A newly-elected Kenyan Member of Parliament narrowly escaped the Boston Marathon terrorist attack Monday after it happened hours after he had crossed the finishing line. Wesley Korir, who won the Cherangany constituency in Kenya in last month’s general elections, told the BBC in London that had the attack happened two hours earlier, he would have been among the victims. The attack is believed to have killed three people including a boy of eight and wounded more than 170. Three dead, 125 injured in Boston Marathon bomb attack

Two bombs exploded near the finish line at the Boston Marathon on Monday, leaving at least three people dead and dozens more wounded. A third explosion was heard just before 4 p.m., about an hour after the first two blasts, at the nearby John F. Kennedy Library. The police later said that episode may have been unrelated. The two explosions, which occurred seconds apart, created a chaotic scene, as wounded runners and bloodied spectators were helped to a nearby tent that was being used for weary runners, The Associated Press reported. Madonna falls out with Malawians as she’s stripped of VIP status

Malawi has accused pop star Madonna of “bullying state officials” after she reportedly complained about her treatment on a visit to the country. The ‘Material Girl’ singer who has adopted two Malawian-born children, recently visited 10 primary schools funded by her charity. The government accused the star of exaggerating her contribution to the country and demanding VIP treatment. In turn, Madonna’s manager Trevor Nelson has accused the Malawian government of having a “grudge” against the singer’s charity ‘Raising Malawi’. In a statement to the BBC, Mr Neilson also accused the government of financial mismanagement of school project funds, and of “harassing organisations that Raising Malawi has donated to”. Former M23 leader Jean-Marie Runiga and  Gen Baudouin Ngaruye, a former deputy chief of staff of the M23 are believed to be under arrest in Kigali following their escape too from the Bunagana area under the control of the M23 forces led by Brig Gen Makenga. United States worried about deteriorating situation in C.A.R

The United States is concerned about worsening security in war-torn Central African Republic and urged all sides to implement January’s ceasefire deal, the State Department said on Sunday. The rebel Seleka coalition and President Francois Bozize’s government signed a ceasefire agreement in Libreville, Gabon, in January to end an insurgency that swept to within striking distance of the capital Bangui. The deal also included forming a government of national unity, but the rebels did not take up key posts in that government in February, waiting for Bozize to free political prisoners and the withdrawal of most foreign forces brought in to shore up the army during the uprising.
